Description
Plaça las Columnas is a town square situated right on the seafront promenade of Cala Millor, Mallorca.
Design & Appearance
The square was redesigned in 2022, with a large circle painted onto the ground in a stencilled pattern of varying colours. On the seaward side, yellow metal columns with chrome-like gleaming tips give the space its distinctive character. The promenade on which the square sits connects Cala Bona and Cala Millor, and features benches with direct sea views as well as sculptures dotted along the route — among them a window sculpture entitled "Vistas al mar".
Atmosphere & Views
The square offers an open, unobstructed view of the sea and the surrounding area has a pleasantly calm feel. The design concept — the yellow columns in particular — is received differently by visitors: some appreciate the bold splash of colour, whilst others find it a touch too striking compared to the more natural look of the rest of the promenade.
Location & Surroundings
The square is located on the Passeig Maritim de Cala Bona, numbers 21–19, in Cala Millor. It sits along the seafront promenade that links Cala Millor and Cala Bona. The surrounding area along the promenade is home to a number of cafés and restaurants within easy reach.
