Port de Cala Figuera
Description
Port de Cala Figuera is a traditional fishing harbour at the heart of Cala Figuera, a coastal village on the south-eastern tip of Mallorca.
A fjord-like bay with unspoilt charm
The harbour sits at the end of a narrow, fjord-like inlet whose waters are remarkably clear. The distinctive Y-shape of the natural harbour, the traditional fishing boats, the crystalline water and the whitewashed houses that frame the scene all give the place its timeless character. Mass tourism has largely passed it by — Port de Cala Figuera has held on to its identity as a working fishing harbour.
Walking and photography
A footpath winds around the harbour and along the cliffs, linking the two coves that make up the village. The route is laid out in a U-shape rather than a loop, and at certain points along the way you may need to wait for water to drain before continuing. The spot is considered especially photogenic in the soft light of sunset and early morning. An audio tour, accessible via QR code, accompanies the walk and shares the history of the area. Please note that the path is not wheelchair accessible.
