Description
Port de Sa Dragonera is a nature reserve on an uninhabited island off the west coast of Mallorca, accessible only by boat.
Unspoilt Nature and Walking Trails
Sa Dragonera is a protected nature reserve that impresses above all with its tranquillity, spectacular sea views and well-maintained walking trails. Several marked routes lead from the landing jetty in different directions — including one that reaches the lighthouse at Cap de Tramuntana. Sturdy footwear is essential, as the paths demand solid shoes. Along the way, you'll be accompanied by countless lizards that show little fear of people and are easy to photograph.
Interpretation Centre and Picnic Areas
At the natural harbour of Cala Lladó there is a small information centre that explains the island's environment and tells the story of how Sa Dragonera became a nature reserve — a great first stop before heading uphill. Picnic areas and toilets are available on the island; food and drink are not sold here, so pack plenty of water and sun cream before you set off.
Getting There and Tickets
The island lies off Sant Elm in the municipality of Andratx and can only be reached by boat, via various operators and departure points. Tickets can also be booked directly through the official Consell de Mallorca website, and advance booking is recommended as spaces are limited. If you're joining a guided boat excursion, bear in mind that some tours allow only an hour on the island, which many visitors find too short.
