Description
Puig de la Moneda is a historic hilltop viewpoint with a watchtower in Son Ferrandell, close to Valldemossa.
Views & Character
From Puig de la Moneda, the panorama stretches across the west coast, the Tramuntana mountains and the valley of Valldemossa. The view towards Sa Foradada is particularly striking. The spot is peaceful and secluded — at quieter times of day you may have it almost entirely to yourself. Sunsets are one of the most popular reasons to make the trip.
The Tower
The watchtower in its Arabic-inspired style is the landmark of the site — it is not a lighthouse, though it is occasionally labelled as one. The tower is currently closed and not accessible to visitors. The path leading up lacks a handrail; it is steep but short.
Location & Getting There
The site is located on Carrer George Sand, 07170 Son Ferrandell. Access runs through the George Sand residential area; take the first road on the right. Parking is available directly below the tower, and it is only a few minutes' walk on foot from there to the top.
Good to Know
There are no safety barriers around the tower, so do keep a close eye on little ones. A partially overgrown circular path leads around the grounds. The spot is considered family-friendly.
