Description
The Regional Museum of Artà is a museum in the heart of Artà dedicated to preserving the natural and cultural history of the town.
Collection & Exhibitions
The museum is divided into two main areas: natural history and archaeology. The natural history section centres on a remarkable collection of native bird species, donated to the museum by the pharmacist Llorenç Garcías Font. The archaeological wing showcases prehistoric finds from the Artà region — a collection built up through private donations and the work of in-house researchers. Also on display are Balearic marine exhibits and a dedicated ceramics collection.
History & Ownership
The museum was founded in 1927 by a group of local scholars with the aim of safeguarding Artà's cultural heritage. The building that houses it was later acquired and restored by the Mallorcan bank Sa Nostra.
Location
The museum is located at Carrer de L'Estel 4, a short walk from Artà's town hall.
Combined Ticket
If you're planning to visit several attractions in Artà, you can purchase a combined ticket that covers entry to a number of other sights in the town.
