Description
The town hall of Sa Pobla is the local council authority for the town of Sa Pobla in the north of Mallorca.
A historic building at the heart of the town
The town hall was inaugurated in 1822 — construction of the current building had begun in 1812 and resumed in 1820 following a break in funding. It stands on the Plaça Major, the central square of Sa Pobla, and forms the architectural centrepiece of the town.
Local administrative services
The town hall offers a range of services, including resident registration, the issuing of empadronamiento certificates, and the processing of tax payments. Administrative matters are dealt with efficiently, and staff at reception, at the counter, and in the registration office are known for their competence and helpfulness. A Justice of the Peace court (Juzgado de Paz) is also housed within the building.
Festivals and atmosphere around the square
The Ball dels Caparrots takes place in front of the town hall every year, accompanied by a spectacular fireworks display. On feast days, the Plaça Major comes alive as a bustling meeting point — with live music and an atmosphere that captures the character of this refreshingly untouristy town.
How to find it
The town hall is located at Plaça de la Constitució 1 in Sa Pobla (07420). Sa Pobla is the terminus of a line on the Mallorcan rail network, making it easy to visit without your own vehicle.
