Description

The Santuari de Consolació is a historic sanctuary perched on a gentle hillside near Sant Joan, in the heart of the Pla de Mallorca.

Panoramic views over the Pla de Mallorca

From the Santuari de Consolació, the views stretch far across the flat plains of the Pla de Mallorca and down over the village of Sant Joan. The peaceful, nature-filled setting draws visitors who come for the remarkable quality of light at dusk — the evening skies here are truly something special.

A sanctuary steeped in history

At the heart of the site stands a small chapel dedicated to the Mare de Déu de la Consolació. According to local legend, a shepherd discovered a statue of the Virgin Mary on the nearby hill of es Castellots; today it is kept within the chapel. The sanctuary has an atmosphere that many visitors find both historically significant and quietly moving.

Picnics, barbecues and open-air concerts

Around the sanctuary, picnic terraces with tables and benches and barbecue facilities make it a lovely spot to linger. The grounds also serve as an outdoor venue for concerts and cultural events. There's a play area for children, and an indoor space with an adjoining outdoor area can be hired for smaller celebrations.
