Strand Cala Gran
Description
Cala Gran is a sheltered sandy cove in Cala d'Or, within the municipality of Santanyí on the eastern coast of Mallorca.
Water, Beach and Snorkelling
The turquoise, crystal-clear water is Cala Gran's real calling card — and if you bring a snorkel set, you won't be disappointed: small fish are easy to spot. The sand is soft and the cove shelves gently, making swimming in the calm, shallow water a genuine pleasure. The rocks and cliffs along the sides of the bay also offer spots to jump into the water.
Facilities on the Beach
Sun loungers and parasols are available to hire on the beach. Lifeguards are on duty and are known for being attentive. Just steps away you'll find cafés, restaurants, bars and shops. Pedalo hire is also on offer. The toilet facilities have been noted as having room for improvement.
Location and Getting There
Cala Gran is located on Carrer Marquès de Comillas 3D in Cala d'Or (07660). The beach is easy to reach by car, with a mix of free and paid car parking available nearby, as well as free on-street parking in the surrounding streets. Accessible entrance and an accessible parking space are both provided.
Crowds and Atmosphere
The cove is on the smaller side and draws a good number of visitors, so it can get busy during peak times. If you're hoping to secure a sun lounger, it's well worth arriving early — spots tend to go quickly.
