Description
Supermercado Son Macià is a family-run grocery shop in the heart of Son Macià, a small village within the municipality of Manacor.
A Family Business with History
Around a hundred years ago, Andreva Llinàs Sureda and Xisco Vaquer Sitges opened a grocery shop alongside their bar, Can Pelut. The couple had no children, so their nieces Andreva and Catalina took over the business. In 1959, Catalina bought the shop, which is now run by her son Tomeu Barceló and his wife — making it a third-generation family affair. Locally, the supermarket is affectionately known as Can Murtero. Tomeu still recalls a wood-fired oven in the shop where cocas and panades were once baked, and a number of those original historic features have been preserved to this day.
What's on Offer
The shop covers all your everyday essentials: groceries, drinks, fruit and vegetables, fresh cheese, locally sourced produce, stationery, toiletries, cleaning products, and pet food. The deli counter operates to order — meat is cut and packed fresh to your requirements. Wine and spirits are also available. The baked goods by the till are something of a local highlight. Should a particular item happen to be out of stock, it can be ordered in specially.
At the Heart of the Village
The shop is located at Carrer de l'Església 12, right in the centre of Son Macià. Whether you live in the village or are just passing through, it's a conveniently placed local shop with everything you need close to hand. A delivery service is also available.
