Description
The Talaiot des Racons is a prehistoric Talaiotic site near Llubí in Mallorca, featuring two accessible megalithic round towers.
Two Talaiots from Prehistory
The site is home to two circular talaiots that visitors can explore up close. The sheer height and scale of the stones used give the complex its striking character. From one of the towers, you get a fine view across the plain. A third talaiot sits on private land and is not open to the public; part of the second talaiot also falls within a private estate.
Archaeological Heritage
The site belongs to the Talaiotic culture, whose tower-shaped megalithic structures are characteristic of Mallorca and Menorca. The name 'talaiot' derives from the Spanish 'atalaya' (watchtower) — a nod to the form and function of these remarkable buildings. The site is classed as an archaeological location with no visitor centre or on-site interpretation.
Getting There
The site is located at Diseminado Diseminados Var 490, in the municipal area of Llubí (07430). The access road is asphalted and in good condition, though it is narrow with limited visibility. A shaded rest area can be found nearby.
