Top Beach
Description
Platja des Coll Baix is a pebble beach tucked into a rocky cove near Alcúdia, reachable only on foot or by boat.
A cove between cliffs
The beach sits nestled between cliffs and mountains, with turquoise, crystal-clear water so transparent you can see straight to the bottom. The seabed is made up of pebbles and rocks rather than sand. Goats occasionally wander down to the shore with a keen interest in any food you've brought along. The cove is comparatively quiet and rarely crowded.
Getting there
The beach is only accessible by boat or via a walking trail. The path runs across stony ground and root-covered tracks before ending in a rocky section that requires some actual scrambling. Sturdy footwear is strongly recommended. Arriving by boat means you can skip the climb entirely; if you're walking, bring plenty of water as there are no facilities on site. The trail itself is considered well worth the effort — a scenic reward in its own right, not just a necessary slog.
Snorkelling & nature
The clear water around the rocks makes it easy to spot fish, making this spot a great choice for snorkellers. The rocky coastline framing the cove is strikingly beautiful, and the surrounding area is equally rewarding to explore from a boat.
