Description

Vins Miquel Gelabert is a family-run bodega and wine shop in Manacor, offering wine tastings in their small, historic cellar in the heart of the town.

A family business with a back-to-nature philosophy

The story of Vins Miquel Gelabert began in 1984, when Miquel was running his own restaurant in Manacor. His father owned land and the family had been selling their grapes to other wineries at low prices — so they decided to make their own wine instead. Miquel started selling the bottles through his restaurant, and from there demand grew steadily. The bodega is rooted in a natural, terroir-led philosophy and forms part of the Denominación de Origen Pla i Llevant.

Wines & tastings

Tastings take place in the snug, welcoming bodega in central Manacor — not at the vineyard itself. The range spans sparkling wines, whites, reds and dessert wines, with highlights including the Golós, the Autònom, the Gran Vinya Son Caulés, a Chardonnay Roure and the Aran dessert wine. Tastings are tailored to your preferences and paired with nibbles such as sobrassada, cheese, olive oil, pâté and traditional Mallorcan biscuits. The commentary on the wines, viticulture and the history of the bodega is thorough and genuinely illuminating.

Atmosphere & what to expect

The bodega is deliberately kept small, and the atmosphere feels authentic and refreshingly untouristy. The barrel cellar is compact and intimate, which gives any visit a wonderfully personal feel. Tastings are led by family members — Miquel, María, Toni and Laura — who share their knowledge first-hand.

Finding the bodega

Vins Miquel Gelabert is located at Carrer d'en Salas 50 in Manacor, tucked away on a quiet residential street in the town centre. The entrance is easy to miss behind an unassuming door, so dropping them a message on WhatsApp beforehand is a good idea if you haven't arranged a fixed appointment.
