Description
Vinyes Mortitx is a winery in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana in Escorca, offering wine tastings, guided tours and direct sales of its wines.
Wines & Tastings
The range includes white, rosé and red wines. Guided tastings feature several wines paired with local produce — among them Pa amb oli, olives, cheese, cured ham and other regional specialities. The tours include explanations of terroir, climate, grape varieties and winemaking.
Location & Surroundings
The winery sits on the historic Mortitx estate in Escorca, part of the Serra de Tramuntana, which is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The vineyards lie at around 400 metres above sea level, surrounded by mountains with views towards the sea. The estate is accessible by car; the official address is Carretera Pollença–Lluc Km. 10.5. If you're using a sat-nav, note that the tasting room is on the right before the gravel track begins — devices sometimes direct you to the more distant cellar further along the track.
History & Terroir
Founded in 2001, a historic Mallorcan possessió was transformed into a modern winery. The terroir is calcareous, clay-rich and volcanic, giving the wines a pronounced minerality. Mild summers, cold winters and a marked difference between day and night temperatures all shape the character of these high-altitude wines.
Who It's For & How to Visit
Vinyes Mortitx is a great fit for wine enthusiasts looking for a combination of stunning scenery, wine knowledge and tasting — and it works well for groups too. Guided tours are offered in English and Spanish. If you'd simply like to buy wines without booking a tasting, you can do that on-site as well. The winery also offers a delivery service.
