You may know GIMS as a French-Congolese singer and rapper who first rose to fame with the hip-hop group Sexion d’Assaut. Under the name Maître Gims, he launched his solo career in 2013 and released his debut solo album, *Subliminal*. The album reached a high position in the French charts and sold more than one million copies. Later solo albums included *Mon cœur avait raison* and *Ceinture noire*. His song “La même” was the most played track in France in 2018 and helped make him one of the most played artists of that year. In 2025, GIMS was named Artist of the Year at the Victoires de la Musique.
