Vincent Hsu (徐崇育) is an award-winning bassist, composer, and music educator from Kaohsiung, Taiwan. In 2002 he moved to New York City to study with jazz legend Cecil McBee — an experience he describes as the turning point of his musical life. He earned a Master's degree in Jazz Performance from New York University and was mentored by Cecil McBee, Andy González, Jerry González, Victor Venegas, and Luis Perdomo. His music fuses jazz and Afro-Cuban rhythms with his Taiwanese roots. With his ensembles "Soy La Ley Afro-Cuban Jazz Band" and the "Jazz Supreme Orchestra," he has performed at international festivals including the Taichung Jazz Festival and the Tainan Jazz Festival. His 2024 U.S. tour featured NEA Jazz Master Donald Harrison. His album *Music for the River Jazz Suite: The Spirit of Love River & Mississippi River* (Truth Revolution Records, October 2023) received a four-star review and Editors' Pick distinction from *DownBeat Magazine*. The work draws a musical parallel between the Love River in his hometown of Kaohsiung and the Mississippi River.
