45th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FESTIVAL JAZZ DE PALMA From that girl who dreamed of singing and found in music a refuge and a way to express herself beyond words, Samara is today one of the great promises of contemporary jazz. With five Grammy Awards and a career in full ascent, she has established herself as one of the great voices of current jazz. Born in the Bronx and trained in a musical environment linked to Gospel, she made the leap to jazz during her studies and achieved international recognition after winning the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2019. Since then, her career has grown notably, consolidating her impact beyond jazz. In her most recent album Portrait, she shows artistic maturity capable of uniting tradition and contemporaneity with her own sensitivity. Her performance next July 25 at Trui Teatre comes within the framework of a commemoration that highlights one of the most important festivals Palma ever had, the Festival de Jazz de Palma. This 45th anniversary of its inaugural edition in 1981 not only pays tribute to all the legends who passed through it: Ella Fitzgerald, Chic Corea, B.B.King, Gary Burton, Chet Baker, but also reaffirms the lasting relevance and future outlook of this musical genre.
