ABBA is the most successful Swedish music group of all time and one of the best-selling acts in music history. Founded in Stockholm in 1972, the quartet comprises Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad — the band's name formed from the initials of their first names. Their international breakthrough came in 1974 when they won the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton with "Waterloo," giving Sweden its first victory in the competition. Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, they dominated global charts with catchy pop, Euro-disco, and synthpop. Songs such as "Dancing Queen," "Mamma Mia," and "The Winner Takes It All" became timeless classics.
