Abraham Mateo
San Fernando, Spanienpop · reggaeton · latin-pop · r&b
Abraham Mateo, born on 25 August 1998 in San Fernando, Cádiz, grew up in a musical family and started singing at the age of three. His mother gave him his first vocal coaching; he later added piano, flute, and guitar. Around age ten he signed with EMI Music Spain and released his self-titled debut album in 2009. His television debut came in 2008 on the children's programme "Manuda Noche". Billboard named him part of its "21 under 21s Next Class" in 2015, and with "Se Acabó el Amor" he became the youngest male solo artist to reach number one on the Billboard Latin Airplay chart.
His sound blends Latin pop, reggaeton, R&B, and electronic elements with traditional Spanish instrumentation. Over his career he has collaborated with Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Farruko, Alejandro Sanz, Yandel, Becky G, Manuel Turizo, and 50 Cent. Stand-out tracks include "Loco Enamorado", "Háblame Bajito", "Clavaíto" (with Chanel, 6× platinum in Spain), and "Quiero Decirte" (with Ana Mena, 4× platinum). His 2024 album "Insomnio" fuses Latin pop, electronic sounds, and urban rhythms, featuring Sebastián Yatra and Danny Ocean. He is currently signed to Sony Music Latin and ranks among Spain's most successful pop exports of his generation.
