Ainhoa Arteta

Ainhoa Arteta was born on 24 September 1964 in Tolosa, Gipuzkoa, into a musical family – her father José Ramón Arteta founded and directed the Coral Eresoinka choir. She began studying at the Conservatory of San Sebastián at the age of twelve, continued her training under Ettore Campogalliani in Italy, and later moved to New York on a grant from the Provincial Government of Gipuzkoa to study at the Actors Studio. She made her opera debut in the United States in 1990, gaining international recognition by winning the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Since then she has performed at the Met and La Scala Milan (La Bohème), the San Francisco Opera (Cyrano de Bergerac alongside Plácido Domingo), and the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Turandot, Carmen, La Bohème), among many others. In 2009 she released her crossover album "La Vida" with Universal Music Spain – a Top 5 hit featuring pop standards by Eric Clapton, the Beatles and Jacques Brel interpreted with her soprano voice. Further recordings such as "La Otra Orilla" and the ensemble album "Luna" with Plácido Domingo and Renée Fleming (Warner Classics) reflect her range across opera, zarzuela and classical crossover. On Mallorca she is set to perform a recital at Son Mas castle.
