Aires Sollerics

Aires Sollerics is one of Mallorca's most established folkloric groups, founded in April 1969 in Sóller. It grew out of a dance school set up the previous year by Jeanette Quetglas Paoli in response to the disappearance of existing folk groups in the Sóller valley, including the dissolved "Brot de Taronger." From the outset, the group positioned itself as a guardian of Mallorcan cultural heritage, with traditional music, dance, and costume at its core – a deliberate counterpoint to cultural homogenisation. The association regularly performs at local and regional festivals across the Balearic Islands and mainland Spain, including the Festa Major in Palautordera (Barcelona) and the Gala Folklòrica Sant Pere d'Aires d'Andratx. Alongside its performance activities, Aires Sollerics runs its own dance school and recently published the book "Fil a l'agulla – Vocabulari d'indumentària mallorquina," a vocabulary of traditional Mallorcan dress.
