Albert Cirera i Els Tres Tambors is a quartet led by Catalan saxophonist and composer Albert Cirera, originally from Igualada, who spent five formative years living in Lisbon. Widely regarded as one of the most exceptional Iberian saxophonists on the European scene, Cirera brings together pianist Marco Mezquida (also on Fender Rhodes), Swedish double bassist Marko Lohikari, and drummer Òscar Domènech in a formation that has been active for over a decade and has forged a rich, distinctive musical language at the intersection of composition and free improvisation.
The quartet debuted with "Els Encants" (Fresh Sound New Talent, 2012/2013), followed by the critically acclaimed "Suite Salada" (Underpool, 2017). Their third album, "Orangina" (Underpool, 2025), recorded in Barcelona, showcases lyrical depth, serial influences, and intricate rhythmic interplay, firmly establishing the group as a leading voice in contemporary jazz. Beyond Tres Tambors, Cirera leads DUOT (with Ramon Prats), AC i Kamarilla, and the solo project CIREROT, and has collaborated with musicians including Barry Guy, Andy Moor, and Agustí Fernandez.
