Alfredo Oyagüez Montero

Alfredo Oyagüez Montero is one of Spain's most comprehensively trained classical musicians, combining the roles of pianist and conductor on international stages. He graduated from the Madrid Royal Conservatory with the "High Degree in Music" and the "Piano Professor Diploma" — studying with, among others, Josep Colom — and continued his postgraduate studies in Poland and the Czech Republic. At Yale University he earned a Master of Music degree; at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) he completed a second Master's in Conducting under Professor Heiichiro Ohyama, serving as Associate Conductor and General Manager of the UCSB Symphony Orchestra and Opera Theater. Since September 2000 he has been a full professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de las Islas Baleares, heading its Conducting and Orchestra programmes and regularly conducting both the Symphony and Chamber Orchestras. He is also Artistic Director of the prestigious Deià International Music Festival on Mallorca. His concert engagements have taken him across Europe, North and South America, Australia, New Zealand, and Antarctica. In 2017 he made his Carnegie Hall debut in New York alongside American cellist Andrew Smith, presenting the album *Spanish Music for Cello & Piano* on the Delos label — featuring works by de Falla, Granados, Turina, and Montsalvatge. In July 2026 he performed at the Fundació Miró Mallorca in Palma as part of the "Miró and Music" series.
