Angerfist is the alias of Danny Masseling, born on 20 June 1981 in the Netherlands. He started making music at the age of 16, experimenting with programmed loops and breakbeats. His career took off in 2001 when he sent a demo to DJ Buzz Fuzz, founder of BZRK Records, who signed him immediately. Early EPs appeared under the aliases Menace II Society and Angerfist before he became a cornerstone of the Masters of Hardcore label and the wider global hardcore and gabber scene. His trademark sound combines ferociously distorted bass drums, menacing synthesizers, and vocals sampled from films and other media – always delivered from behind his iconic hockey mask. Albums such as "Pissin' Razorbladez" (2006) and "Mutilate" (2008) confirmed his status as the leader of newstyle hardcore. Signature tracks include "Raise Your Fist", "Riotstarter", and "Dance with the Wolves". Collaborations with Tha Playah ("The Heartless"), Miss K8 ("Impact"), and I:gor ("Gangsterizm") demonstrate his range within the genre. A regular headliner at Dominator, Masters of Hardcore, and Tomorrowland, Angerfist also holds a place in DJ Mag's Top 100. In June 2025 he played Amnesia Ibiza for the first time, reflecting hardcore's growing footprint in the Balearic Islands.
