Dean Blunt – born Roy Chukwuemeka Nnawuchi in 1984 in Hackney, East London – is one of the most distinctive voices in British contemporary music. As a singer, songwriter, producer and conceptual artist, he consistently resists classification, earning him the description "art-pop provocateur." His career began in 2009 as part of the avant-garde duo Hype Williams (with Inga Copeland), whose lo-fi collages of ambient, dub and early vaporwave drew international attention. From 2011, he pursued a solo career, with albums The Narcissist II (2012), The Redeemer (2013) and Black Metal (2014) receiving widespread critical acclaim. Alongside his solo work, he co-founded the hip-hop project Babyfather (with DJ Escrow and Gassman D) and the London rock band Graffiti Island. As a producer, he collaborated with A$AP Rocky, contributing two tracks to the album Testing. His releases appear on his own imprint World Music, reflecting his commitment to artistic independence.
