Chus
Madrid, Spanienhouse · electronic · progressive house · tribal house
Chus, born Jesús López Esteban, hails from Madrid and is one of the formative figures of Spanish house music. You're looking at a DJ who started spinning records at just 16 and came of age amid Madrid's late-80s acid-house movement. In 1992 he took on a residency at the legendary Kadoc Club in the Algarve, and from 1994 he spent a decade shaping the sound of Teatro Kapital in Madrid. Together with Pablo Ceballos, he developed the "Iberican Sound" — a fusion of Spanish, Portuguese, and American underground house influences. In 2001 the duo founded the label Stereo Productions, home to acclaimed releases including "Iberican Sound" and "Strong Rhythm". Chus has also produced official remixes for Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, and Shakira, and collaborated with David Penn on garage house tracks like "Baila" and "Will I". His sound blends warm, tribal-infused organic house with melodic, evolving structures and driving percussion. As Chus & Ceballos, the pair has been touring together since 2000, bringing their signature mix of house and Latin influences to venues ranging from intimate clubs to major festivals.
