Coral Sor Francinaina de Sencelles

The Coral Sor Francinaina de Sencelles is a Mallorcan choral ensemble from the village of Sencelles, named after Blessed Francinaina Cirer Carbonell (1781–1855), founder of the Sisters of Charity and patron of the island. The choir upholds the living choral tradition of the Balearic Islands, performing polyphonic vocal music rooted in Mallorca's Catalan cultural heritage. Under the direction of Lidia Fernández, the ensemble performs regularly at local festivals and religious celebrations – including the Festes de la Beata Francinaina on 27 February in Sencelles, where it leads the solemn evening mass, as well as the Fira de Sencelles and the Festa de Sant Bartomeu in Jornets. The choir frequently collaborates with other Mallorcan choral groups, such as the Coral s'Alzinar de Capdepera and the youth ensemble Vint&Sing. A widely shared performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" in 2019 brought the group broader attention on social media. A joint concert with the Coral s'Alzinar in Capdepera is planned for September 2026. The Coral Sor Francinaina is deeply embedded in the cultural and religious life of Sencelles, representing the musical heritage of Mallorca's village communities.
