Dread Mar I

Dread Mar I – born Mariano Javier Castro on January 31, 1978, in Quequén, Buenos Aires – is one of Argentina's most prominent reggae artists. Growing up in Maipú near Buenos Aires, he discovered Bob Marley's music at an early age and developed a deep passion for roots reggae and Rastafarianism. His professional career began in 2004 as lead singer of Mensajeros Reggae, before launching his solo career in 2005. His debut solo album Jah Guía (2005/06) caught the attention of Sony Music Latin; he also worked as a backing vocalist for Argentine reggae band Los Cafres. In 2006, the collaborative album Hermanos with Guillermo Bonetto was released. By 2008, he was performing internationally in Chile and Uruguay. With "Más Allá de Tus Ojos," he won the Argentine Quiero Award for Best Reggae Video in 2011, followed by the Premio Gardel for Best Reggae and Urban Music Album (Transparente) in 2012. To mark his 10th anniversary as a solo artist, he played a sold-out live concert at the Planetario de Buenos Aires in front of more than 14,000 fans. His album Caminarás Caminos (2018) was recorded in Jamaica. Notable collaborations include SOJA ("Everything Changes") and Nicki Nicole & Bizarrap ("Verte"). In February 2027, he brings his Spain tour to Mallorca, including a show at Es Gremi.
