Francisca Valenzuela, born on March 17, 1987 in San Francisco, California, is a Chilean-American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She moved with her family to Santiago, Chile at age twelve, where a background in classical piano led her into pop music. Her breakthrough came with the 2007 debut album "Muérdete la Lengua" and its lead single "Dulce," recorded with Chilean rock band Los Bunkers and released independently on her own label Frantastic Records. Both that album and its follow-up "Buen Soldado" (2011) went platinum in Chile. Further albums — "Tajo Abierto" (2014), "La Fortaleza" (2020), "Vida Tan Bonita," and "Adentro" (2023) — have earned her four Latin Grammy nominations in total, including one for "Adentro." Her music blends folk influences with dance pop and indie pop; she performs on vocals, piano, guitar, and drums. Collaborations with U2, Mon Laferte, Natalia Lafourcade, Pablo Alborán, and Miguel Bosé underline her international profile. In 2016 she founded the feminist festival Ruidosa, which she continues to run. She has recently signed with global music company Believe and regularly performs at major venues across Latin America as well as prestigious stages such as Lincoln Center and the LA Phil.
