Guitarrica Delafuente
Benicàssim, Spainfolk · flamenco · indie-folk · chamber folk
Guitarricadelafuente is the project of Álvaro Lafuente Calvo, born on 27 August 1997 in Benicàssim on the Valencian coast. Growing up between his hometown and the small village of Las Cuevas de Cañart in Aragon, he picked up the guitar at 15 and began sharing cover versions on Instagram in 2017. His sound blends new flamenco, rumba and chamber folk with contemporary production — a collision of family tradition and internet culture.
His debut album *La Cantera* (2022, Sony Music Spain) drew on his grandparents' folklore heritage and earned international coverage including NPR. His second album *Spanish Leather* followed in 2025, featuring collaborators such as Carter Lang (SZA), Raül Refree and Rodaidh McDonald (The xx). An early bedroom recording, *El Conticinio*, appeared in a 2025 Apple ad directed by Spike Jonze and starring Pedro Pascal. He was also featured on Troye Sivan's *Something To Give Each Other*. Currently on his first world tour, Lafuente is simultaneously making his film debut as the lead in *La Bola Negra*, directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, alongside Penélope Cruz and Glenn Close.
