Gustavo Edgardo Cordera, born on September 15, 1961 in Dock Sud, Avellaneda (Buenos Aires), is one of the most distinctive voices in Argentine alternative rock. His musical career began in 1988, when a visit to Rio de Janeiro's Carnival inspired him to sell his business, drop his communications studies, and co-found Bersuit Vergarabat. As the band's frontman – nicknamed "Pelado" (the bald one) – he became a major figure in Argentine rock. In 2004, the band achieved great success with the album La Argentinidad al Palo, and in May 2007 they performed to over 60,000 fans at the Estadio Monumental de River Plate in Buenos Aires.
In 2009, Cordera left the band to launch a solo career, releasing his debut album Suelto that same year. He now leads the ensemble La Caravana Mágica, blending rock, cumbia, and techno. Subsequent solo records include Tecnoanimal (2016) and Entre Las Cuerdas (2018, Sony Music/Ariola). He has collaborated with iconic singer Mercedes Sosa, Los Auténticos Decadentes, and Los Caligaris, among others. Since 2006, Cordera has lived in La Paloma, Uruguay.
