Jan Leyk, born Joanes Leyk Martinez on October 9, 1984, in Minden, grew up in Hameln, Hannover, and eventually Hamburg – the son of a Spanish mother from San Sebastián and a German father. In Hamburg he started out as a bar manager at a well-known club before opening his own venue in the hip Eppendorf district. He first gained wider public attention in 2011 through his acting role as Carlos Hansen in the RTL II soap opera "Berlin – Tag & Nacht."
As a DJ and producer, he records under the alias **Leykenda**, working across house music sub-genres – tech house, deep house and funky, high-energy grooves. His debut singles "Showdown" and "Elephant" on RUN DBN Records broke into the iTunes Top 10 and Beatport Top 30; "Showdown" entered the official German Media Control Charts in 2014. As the duo Leyk & Lockvogel he scored his biggest chart hit with "Ne Sekunde Sommer" (No. 40 DE, No. 44 AT) in 2015. Other notable releases include a remix of Alvaro Soler's and Jennifer Lopez's "El Mismo Sol," plus singles "SOS," "H8ers," and "It's Wrong" (feat. Jakub Ondra). His album "On the Move" was released in 2017. In summer 2023 he performed live at Megapark on Palma's Playa de Palma, Mallorca.
