Jaume Anglada, born on 13 September 1972 in Palma de Mallorca, is one of the most prominent Mallorcan singer-songwriters of his generation. He started playing the saxophone at the age of eight before switching to guitar at thirteen – the instrument that would define his career. In the mid-1990s he formed a five-piece band, which caught the attention of WOMAD's Spanish representative, leading to a deal with Virgin Records. His debut album "Dentro de la Noche" was released in 1996/97, followed by "Empezar de Nuevo" (1998/99), recorded in England by producer Colin Fairley. Anglada blends rock with singer-songwriter craft, citing Dylan and Lou Reed as early influences. In 2010 he returned to electric rock with the album "Stereo", built around a wall of three guitars including Californian guitarist David Gwynn. His catalogue now spans ten albums, including the orchestral "Temposinfónico" (2013/14) and a duo project with Carolina Cerezuela. On Mallorca he has performed at the Mallorca Roots Festival and alongside the Palma Symphony Orchestra. He is also widely known as a presenter on the Balearic broadcaster IB3 Televisió.
