Jayda G, born Jayda Guy, grew up in the small town of Grand Forks, British Columbia, Canada – surrounded by nature that later inspired her academic path. Alongside her Master's degree in Resource & Environmental Management, she started DJing in Vancouver, quickly discovering a passion for vinyl and house music. In 2016 she relocated to Berlin to pursue her DJ career seriously. Early EPs on her own Freakout Cult label (co-run with DJ Fett Burger) and releases on 1080p and Geography Records – including the celebrated track "Diva Bitch" – built her reputation. Her debut album "Significant Changes" arrived in 2019 on Ninja Tune, blending Chicago house with vintage drum machine funk. In 2021 she received a Grammy nomination for "Best Dance Recording" for "Both of Us" at the 63rd Grammy Awards. She also remixed Dua Lipa's "Cool" for the "Club Future Nostalgia" album and collaborated with Aluna. Her 2021 DJ Kicks compilation spanned funk, soul, house and disco. Jayda G has performed at Glastonbury, Coachella, Dekmantel, Boiler Room and the Warehouse Project, and is now London-based and signed to !K7 Records.
