John Newman

John Newman, born on 16 June 1990 in Settle, North Yorkshire, is an English singer, songwriter, DJ and record producer. Raised on a diet of Motown and Northern soul played by his mother, he honed his craft during a three-year stint at Leeds College of Music before moving to London and signing with Island Records. His breakthrough came in 2012 as a featured vocalist on Rudimental's "Feel the Love", propelling the drum 'n' bass act into the mainstream. In 2013, his solo debut "Love Me Again" topped the UK Singles Chart and reached the top ten in over twenty countries. His debut album *Tribute* (2013) also debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and was certified platinum by the BPI. Newman described it as a breakup album spanning influences from breakbeat and hip-hop to house and orchestral sounds. In 2014 he collaborated with Calvin Harris on "Blame", which made history as the first track to surpass 10 million Spotify streams in a single week. Further collaborations followed with David Guetta, Kygo, Galantis, and Sigala (feat. Nile Rodgers). Across his career Newman has accumulated nine UK number-one credits as artist and songwriter, and over 2.5 billion streams worldwide. In 2026 he performed at both the Tomorrowland Main Stage and Ushuaïa Ibiza.
