Las Pelotas are an Argentine rock band formed in 1988 in Córdoba, rising directly from the ashes of the iconic group Sumo after its singer Luca Prodan died in 1987. Guitarist Germán Daffunchio and drummer Alberto "Superman" Troglio co-founded the band alongside vocalist Alejandro "Bocha" Sokol, who fronted the group until 2008 when he pursued a solo career, passing away unexpectedly in 2009. Their sound blends rock, reggae, funk, and ballads into a richly melodic and lyrically substantial whole. Their catalogue includes albums such as "Corderos en la Noche", "Máscaras de Sal" (1994), "Para Qué?" (1998), and "Es Así" (2020). In 1995, they opened for the Rolling Stones at the Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires, and in 1997 they performed at the 20th anniversary concert of the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo. The current line-up features Daffunchio (guitar, vocals), Gabriela Martínez (bass), Tomás Sussmann (guitar), Gustavo Jove (drums), and Sebastián Schachtel (keyboards), cementing their status as one of Argentina's most enduring rock acts.
