Loona – born Marie-José van der Kolk on 16 September 1974 in IJmuiden, Netherlands – is a Dutch singer, songwriter, and dancer who has been active since 1994. She rose to international fame in the late 1990s through her collaboration with Spanish DJ and producer DJ Sammy, performing as "DJ Sammy feat. Carisma." The singles "Bailando" (a cover of the Paradisio song) and "Hijo de la Luna" (a Mecano cover) became gold- and platinum-selling hits, both featured on her 1999 debut album *Lunita*. Further albums followed, including *Entre Dos Aguas* (1999/2000), *Colors* (2002), *Wind of Time* (2005), *Moonrise* (2008), and *Rakatakata (Un Rayo de Sol)* (2013), consistently charting in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In 2020 she released the career-spanning compilation *Stars*, marking three decades in the business. Her sound blends EDM, Latin pop, and Europop into a dancefloor-ready style that has made her a staple of the German-speaking party scene. She runs her own label, Loonalicious.
