Los Palmeras
Santa Fe, Argentiniencumbia · tropical
Los Palmeras are one of Argentina's most celebrated cumbia bands, founded in 1972 in Santa Fe, where they started out as "Sexteto Palmeras." Their signature style, known as Cumbia Santafesina, is rooted in Colombian cumbia rhythms adapted to reflect the identity and culture of their home city. Hits such as *Olvídala*, *Soy Sabalero*, and *El Bombón Asesino* made them household names across Argentina. The creative core of the band has long been vocalist Rubén "Cacho" Deicas and bandleader Marcos Camino. Over more than five decades, Los Palmeras have released dozens of studio albums on labels including Microfón, CBS, Sony Music, BMG, and Leader Music — among them the platinum-certified *Voló la Paloma* (1999) and their 43rd studio album *Sean Eternos Los Palmeras* (2019). Collaborations with Andrés Calamaro (*Asesina*), Marcela Morelo (*Amor*), and LIT KILLAH showcase their ability to fuse cumbia with rock and urban sounds, reaching new audiences. Marcos Camino summed up the band's legendary status best: "They say Los Palmeras are the Rolling Stones of cumbia."
