María Hein

María Hein (full name Maria Hein Puig, born 2 October 2003 in Felanitx, Mallorca) is a Spanish singer-songwriter and producer who releases music exclusively in Catalan. Raised by a German father and a Spanish mother, she started playing piano at the age of four and later trained at the Liceu and the Taller de Músics in Barcelona. In 2020 she released her debut single "Idò un cafe", which caught the attention of Hidden Track Records and led to a record deal. Her debut album *Continent i Contingut* (October 2021) drew on acoustic folk influences from artists such as Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Maria del Mar Bonet, and Joan Miquel Oliver. She performed at the prestigious Festival La Mercè in Barcelona shortly before the release. Her sophomore album *Tot allò que no sap ningú* (September 2023, Hidden Track / Pértiga) broadened her sound to include dancehall, hyperpop, and contemporary R&B. In 2025 she released her third album *Katana* (Primavera Labels), a tribute to her late father inspired by Quentin Tarantino's *Kill Bill*, featuring a striking cover of Maria del Mar Bonet's "To alenar". With her distinctive voice bridging urban rhythms and traditional Catalan music, Hein is one of the most compelling young voices in the Catalan music scene.
