Mark Broom

Mark Broom, born on 6 May 1971, is one of Britain's most influential techno DJs and producers. His journey into electronic music began in 1989 during the Second Summer of Love, when a holiday in Tenerife introduced him to Chicago house and acid house. Back in England, he invested in his first Technics turntables and immersed himself in the London scene – frequenting the FatCat Records store, where he connected with Baby Ford and Ed Handley and Andy Turner of Black Dog Productions. He became a resident DJ at Ford's club Nude and released early records on General Production Recordings alongside Handley and Turner. In 1994, Broom co-founded Pure Plastic Recordings with Dave Hill, which released his debut album *Angie Is A Shoplifter* in 1996. Since then he has released over 150 singles and worked with respected labels including Rekids, Warp, M-Plant, Cocoon, Defected, and Glitterbox. He also records as part of The Fear Ratio, a collaborative project with James Ruskin. Broom has played at iconic venues such as Berghain in Berlin and Fuse in Brussels, as well as live streams for Boiler Room and Ministry of Sound. In 2024 he introduced his first hybrid live shows. He is currently based in Norfolk.
