Michael Wendler, born Michael Skowronek on 22 June 1972 in Dinslaken, is one of Germany's best-known schlager singers. Since his breakthrough in 1998, he has shaped German-language pop schlager with an unmistakable blend of electronic Eurodance beats, catchy melodies and party-ready lyrics – AllMusic aptly describes him as the self-proclaimed "King of Disco-Fox". He spent many years signed to Sony Entertainment, accumulating six gold records and one platinum award. Singles such as "Respekt" (14 weeks in the charts, peak #10), "Jackpot" (#7) and "Spektakulär" (#6) regularly placed him in the German top 10. Under the pseudonym Mic Skowy he also writes songs for other schlager artists. Notable collaborations include a remix of "Egal" with DJ Ostkurve and the duet "What a Lie" with Dr. Alban.
