Obscure Shape

Obscure Shape, real name Luigi Urban, was born in Brazil and honed his sound later in Germany's Black Forest region and Stuttgart. There, together with Marco Bläsi (SHDW), he formed the duo SHDW & Obscure Shape and co-founded the label From Another Mind in 2015, born from a party series they launched in 2014. Their EP "Die Weiße Rose" proved to be a career-defining release, celebrated by critics and audiences alike, with remix packages featuring contributions from Rødhåd and Tale of Us further cementing their reach. Following the duo's split, Obscure Shape has pursued a solo path. His debut solo EP "Elemental" appeared on Manchester's Clergy Records, with subsequent releases on Rekids, Soma, BPitch and Exhale. His sound navigates classic techno, Detroit references, hardgroove and ambient textures. His live approach is central to his identity: performing with analogue hardware – including a Roland TR-909 and Access Virus TI2 – he treats each set as a "deep conversation" with the crowd rather than a conventional DJ performance. In February 2024, he delivered a widely praised hybrid live set for HÖR Berlin. At Selva Club he appears as part of the "Hard In Progress" series – a setting well suited to his powerful, hypnotic live techno.
