Pibes Chorros

Los Pibes Chorros are one of the most iconic bands of Cumbia Villera – the Argentine subgenre that fuses classic cumbia with aggressive beats and raw lyrics addressing poverty, drugs, and everyday life. The band was founded in 2001 in Berazategui, Province of Buenos Aires, by keyboardist and singer Ariel "El Traidor" Salinas, following the break-up of his previous group Los Chudas. Signed to Magenta Discos, they released their debut album *Arriba las Manos* in the same year, scoring a major hit with the single "Andrea." The follow-up *Solo Le Pido a Dios* (2002) cemented their status, and *El Poder de la Guadaña* followed in 2004, after which Salinas and key members departed. Despite this, the project continued and in 2024 released the album *La Historia*. The band performed at the prestigious Cosquín Rock Festival and has toured Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Spain, and many other countries, with a European tour planned for 2026. With nearly 25 years of history, Los Pibes Chorros are considered one of the leading global representatives of Cumbia Villera.
