Plastik Funk is the German house duo formed by Rafael Ximenez-Carrillo and Mikio Gruschinske, who teamed up in 2002 while still at school. Ximenez-Carrillo was born in Madrid and grew up in Grevenbroich, NRW, while Gruschinske spent his early years in Tokyo before settling in Berlin. Both started out DJing hip-hop but switched to house after discovering the work of Frankie Knuckles and David Morales.
Since their 2003 debut EP "Do It Right", they have built a solid catalogue of radio-friendly electro-house tracks on labels including Spinnin' Records, Revealed Recordings (Hardwell), HEXAGON (Don Diablo) and Smash The House (Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike). In 2011, a cover of "Everybody Dance Now" charted in Germany. Their biggest chart success came in 2014 with "Dr. Who!", a collaboration with Tujamo and Sneakbo that peaked at #21 on the UK Singles Chart. They have also remixed David Guetta, Deadmau5, Robyn and Shaggy, among others.
As DJs, they have performed at Tomorrowland, Ultra Europe, Mayday, Sensation White and the Love Parade, and held a summer residency at the iconic Space Ibiza. Over more than two decades, Plastik Funk have remained a consistent fixture in the European club scene.
