Plastilina Mosh are a Mexican duo from Monterrey, Nuevo León, made up of Jonás González (vocals, guitar) and Alejandro Rosso (keyboards, sampler, production). Founded in 1997, they were part of the influential Avanzada Regia movement that turned Monterrey into a hotbed of new Mexican sound in the late 1990s. Their debut single "Niño Bomba" (1997) quickly gained traction with heavy rotation on MTV, paving the way for their debut album Aquamosh (1998), still regarded as a creative masterpiece: an eclectic mix of lounge, industrial, acid jazz, and hip-hop. In 2000, they signed to Astralwerks and released Juan Miguel, produced by Money Mark (Beastie Boys) and Chris Allison (Coldplay) — a polished step into deep house, trip-hop, and disco. The duo consistently crosses genre lines and often sings in English, Spanish, French, and Italian within the same song. Collaborations with Babasonicos and María José, plus a contribution to Alfonso Cuarón's Y Tu Mamá También soundtrack, highlight their range. With over 1.9 million scrobbles on Last.fm, Plastilina Mosh remain one of Mexico's most celebrated alternative acts.
