Priku
Bucharest, Romaniatechno · minimal techno · electronic · house
Priku is the alias of Adrian Niculae – born and raised in Bucharest, one of the defining figures of Romanian minimal techno. He has been part of the Sunrise Agency roster since 2007, the booking home of nearly every key DJ-producer from the Romanian scene. His international breakthrough came in 2012 with the Bobohalma EP on Bucharest's seminal label a:rpia:r – the track "La Patinoteca" announced him as the voice of a new generation. Further releases followed on Fabric, All Inn, Eastenderz, Concrete Music and Only 300 Family, alongside contributions to the Cocoon compilations Green & Blue (2011) and Heroes. Under his given name Adrian Niculae he also released the Acoustic EP on his own label Motif (2013) and appeared on Fabric 72. In 2016 he founded Atipic – a vinyl-only label running two series (Atipic and AtipicLab for more experimental output), reaching 19 pressings by 2024. Regular appearances at Sunwaves Festival, Robert Johnson, Amnesia, Concrete and Unum Festival have made him a recognisable name across Europe. His signature: slightly off-grid percussion you feel before you can name it.
