René Schuurmans

Sint-Michielsgestel, Niederlandepop · schlager · levenslied
René Schuurmans was born on 20 November 1964 in Sint-Michielsgestel, Noord-Brabant, and grew up in a music-filled household – his father ran the café-discotheque "De Molen" in Den Dungen. Before launching his solo career, he spent five years performing as the duo René & Astrid with his sister. After 12.5 years working as a traffic official for the municipality of Sint-Michielsgestel, he devoted himself entirely to music in 2004. His breakthrough came in 2007 with "Laat de zon in je hart", a song that was later reused in a Lidl radio and TV campaign in 2019. Other signature hits include "Als ik haar zie", "Hela Ho", "Diep in mijn hart" and "Bij ons in Brabant" (2014, written for Omroep Brabant). His discography features albums such as "Vanaf Vandaag" (2007, peaking at #5 in the Dutch charts), "Blij Dat Ik Leef" (2009) and "Lach & Geniet" (2012), plus the compilation "Goud" (2017) on Berk Music. With more than 30 Dutch-language chart hits, he has performed at the Amsterdam ArenA and major events like the TROS Muziekfeesten and Mega Festijnen. His blend of levenslied and carnaval pop makes him a popular choice for festivals, corporate events and public celebrations.
