Rodrigo Cuevas

Rodrigo Cuevas, born in 1985 in Oviedo, Asturias, is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Spanish music. Trained at the Oviedo Conservatory (piano and tuba) and at the Catalonia College of Music (Sonology in Barcelona), he blends Asturian folk tradition with electronic beats, cabaret aesthetics, humour, and queer sensibility – performing in androgynous costumes, stockings and wooden stilettos. His breakout came with the tour for "El Mundo por Montera", which took him across Spain and to Frankfurt, London, Rome and Lima. "Trópico de Covadonga" and the album "Manual de Romería" – produced by a Grammy winner – consolidated his reputation as a theatrical boundary-crosser between folklore and the present. Collaborations with Rozalén, Baiuca, Zahara and Puerto Rican artist iLE demonstrate his stylistic range. In 2022 he received Spain's National Prize for Current Music and was nominated for four Music Awards in 2024. His live shows turn venues into spaces of collective liberation – a concept central to the concert "A pie de llar".
