Romeo Santos

Romeo Santos, born Anthony Santos on July 21, 1981, in the Bronx, New York, to a Dominican father and a Puerto Rican mother, is widely regarded as the "King of Bachata." In the late 1990s he co-founded Aventura, a group that reinvented the genre by blending traditional bachata with R&B, hip-hop, and pop. The band's 2002 hit "Obsesión" topped the Italian charts for 16 consecutive weeks, marking a breakthrough for Latin music in Europe. In April 2011, Santos left Aventura and signed with Sony Music Latin as a solo artist. His debut album "Fórmula, Vol. 1" spawned multiple No. 1 singles on the Hot Latin and Tropical Songs charts; "Fórmula, Vol. 2" became the best-selling Latin album of its year. Within a few years he had accumulated seven No. 1 hits on the Hot Latin charts. His solo style – romantic bachata enriched with contemporary R&B and his signature falsetto – clearly distinguished him from his Aventura work. Santos has collaborated with artists including Pitbull, Justin Timberlake, and Prince Royce, and penned hits for Wisin & Yandel and Thalía. He took home the ASCAP Composer of the Year Award in 2010. His latest major release is "Fórmula, Vol. 3" (Sony Music Latin). A stadium-filling live act, he has sold out the Yankee Stadium twice (2014) and MetLife Stadium (2019), cementing his status as a global icon of Latin music.
