Sasha, born Alexander Paul Coe on 4 September 1969 in Wales, is one of the most influential DJs and producers in electronic music history. He began his career in the late 1980s playing acid house at illegal warehouse raves around Blackpool and Blackburn in north-west England, shaped by the iconic sound of Manchester's Haçienda club. Through the early 1990s he evolved his style from European house towards progressive house. His partnership with John Digweed from 1993 brought the duo Sasha & John Digweed to global prominence — the "Northern Exposure" mix compilation series, released on Ministry of Sound in 1997, remains a landmark in club music history. In 2000 DJ Magazine voted him the World's No. 1 DJ. He is also a four-time International Dance Music Awards and DJ Awards winner, as well as a Grammy nominee. Sasha has produced remixes for Madonna, Moby, the Chemical Brothers and Hot Chip, and released solo projects including the album "Involver" and the compilation "Fabric 99". His own label Last Night On Earth (LNOE) celebrated its 150th release in 2024, having launched careers including those of Cristoph and Max Cooper. Most recently he collaborated with Lake Turner on his "TEN" compilation series. Sasha remains a fixture on major international club and festival stages.
