Heinrich Gersmeier, known as Schäfer Heinrich ("Shepherd Heinrich"), is a German farmer and Schlager singer from Völlinghausen near Erwitte in the Hellweg Börde region. He keeps around 400 sheep on his farm. He came to national attention in 2008 through his appearance on the RTL show "Bauer sucht Frau" ("Farmer Wants a Wife"), where he performed "Das Schäferlied" – a song about his life as a shepherd. Released through EMI Music, the track became a top-10 hit in Germany, reaching No. 5 in the charts. He went on to perform at village festivals, discotheques, and the Ballermann strip in Mallorca, where he has become a regular fixture. His catalogue includes further singles such as "Ladykiller" and more recent releases like "Was der Bauer nicht kennt" (2025) and "Koala" (2024). Beyond music, he has appeared in TV formats including "Promi-Frauentausch" and "Mitten im Leben."
